about

Race relations. Political Ideology. Left/Right. Up/Down.This is a major area of concern in this country. So, here’s a metaphorical tune to address that subject. It’s funny, this song came out of nowhere. I was working on a completely different tune and this riff, chord progression and melody just popped in. The concept and lyrics followed shortly and the basic song was written in a day. I love when that happens.

lyrics

Who says a Yankee
Can’t write a country song
Who says a Yankee
Just don’t belong

You say because he’s a Yankee
He ain’t like you
Who says its wrong because
he ain’t country born

We’re all in this together
Birds of a feather
We’re all just trying to survive
Get it right, live our lives
Together in America

You don’t come from country
So there’s nothing here for you
And you ain’t shit kickin’,
City slicker thru and thru

Oh yea, you’re too old to make it
so why even try
You don’t belong
So I guess its bye bye

We’re all in this together
Birds of a feather
We’re all just trying to survive
Get it right, live our lives
Together in America

My heart belongs
To a country song
Right or wrong

I love to write
Just wanna get it tight
In a song

Who says a Yankee
Can’t write a country song
Just because I’m Yankee
Don’t make me wrong

I love my country
Just like you
And I wear the same colors
Red, white and blue

Oh well, we’re all in this together
Birds of a feather
We’re all just trying to survive
Get it right, live our lives
Together in America

Robbie Now Florida

In my late teens, after a few years of drug use and almost dying in a car accident I finally woke up and changed direction. So, I stopped drugs and took up guitar so I could write music that I hoped would touch people in a positive way. I didn't want to be bad anymore...well, at least not that kind of bad. ... more
